While in New Hampshire on my trip up north, one of the main things on the agenda while I was there was to ski! My brother has lived in the Boston area for 10 years now and has NEVER been skiing, so after many years of coaxing, he finally agreed to give it a try. Keep in mind, there are somewhere in the range of 50+ ski resorts within an hour or two of his house in every direction. Also accompanying us for her first ever ski trip was one of my best friends, Jill Sowers.
So on the weekend of January 15 & 16, the three of us headed up to Pats Peak, which had the best reviews of ski schools in the area. It also had a good spread of beginner and intermediate slopes, while some other mountains have only intermediate and advanced.

Jill, excited to go skiing!
The first morning there, we all took lessons: Jeremy and Jill in the beginner lessons, while I went to take an intermediate lesson. We skied until 4 pm that day and headed home pretty worn out! New Hampshire had been blanketed with about a foot and a half of fresh powder a few days earlier, so the slopes were AMAZING.
Just to give you an idea of the mountain...
Jeremy invested in a great ski hat, complete with green mohawk. It got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS on the mountain it was ridiculous. People in Colorado wear hats like that all the time, but apparently not in the northeast.

The slopes at dusk...gearing up for night skiing!
The video is of Jill and myself doing a run at night. It has a jump on it at the end, which we both landed, but we didn't capture Jill landing it. Just falling! :) On Sunday, we went night skiing (amazing!) and had the whole mountain to ourselves practically. It was beautiful...a little bit cold (in the teens), but still fun. Can't wait to go skiing again up there someday!
