t-minus 48 hours and counting...

Happy Friday! Here's a little eye candy for you...

I've always been obsessed with letters and monograms for as long as I can remember. I loved when a piece of luggage had my name monogrammed on it. I think it's a Southern thing (Southern as in Alabama, I don't consider Oklahoma "south")...because a lot of people down there have pieces of jewelry with their names or initials on them, etc. In the past year or two, I have started collecting the letter "L" when I find unique ones or one that sticks out to me. However, I've recently been wanting to make a few. I plan on hanging/arranging them above my desk in the study. Pictures of that when it's done! But for now, these ideas will have to suffice :) enjoy!

this looks handmade...perhaps a great Christmas gift idea? I think so! Cute scrapbooking paper, a fun font, funky ribbon, and a little elbow grease. Looks like something from Anthro.

I'm not a fan of the flowers on these, but I love love love the rustic-y element of moss and the amount of texture that it brings.

You can never go wrong with burlap! I'm a big fan of the period after each letter. Very emphatic!

This one might be a new fave. Maybe because it is already an L and I don't have to imagine what it would look like...maybe because of the keys...or because of the burlap hanging from the top. It's just a great choice all-around! And the intro image...Holy cow the "K" is BEAUTIFUL!! How stunning for a wedding.

Have a great weekend! I am leaving for Boston on Sunday, so expect some updates along the road :) 48 hours and counting...! Yippee!

And something to make you laugh.... :) This episode was on the other day.

guess who moved today?

Thursday, August 26, 2010. The day that my wittle
Kendall Michele Haney
(whose name will someday be as famous as Spielberg's) moved to the Big Apple. As a tribute to her, today's blog is dedicated to many a memory and laugh...in addition to many a picture (duh!). The picture below was taken a few summers ago in Times Square after a lovely meal at TGIFridays. No explanation needed.

I met Kendall when she was in 7th grade and I was a senior in high school. It happened during The Fling, which was and is a legend at McFarlin. Let me back up and do a little 'splainin for those of you who are not familiar with The Fling. The Fling occurred during one week of the year, where middle schoolers got to spend the night at the church for an entire week. The mini-buses would drop them off and pick them up at the schools. All meals were eaten at McFarlin. High schoolers were in charge of planning every aspect of The Fling, and would also spend the week at the church, completely engulfed in activities around the clock. It was one of the best traditions that was ever created at church, and anyone who attended as a middle schooler or high schooler would tell you likewise.

One particular night (keep in mind, the kids had to be up incredibly early for school each day), I went in to yell at the 7th grade girls room to go to sleep. It was almost midnight if my memory serves me correct, and little did I know that I would end up spending a couple more hours talking to them. As soon as I opened the door, the room went silent as they knew what was coming: "Girls...it's late. Go to bed." And then, up popped Taylor Rhoades, as she ran over to introduce herself to me. "Hi! I'm Taylor." "Hi, I'm Kendall!" "Hi, I'm Jennifer!" Lo and behold I found I couldn't leave the girls room just yet! The next morning I took 4 of them to Whittier Middle School as we blasted my oldies cd in the car (in particular, Build Me Up Buttercup), and the rest is history.

Charleston--Summer 2007, the Seagulls bathroom :)

This was the most oddly constructed bathroom I've ever seen. Please watch the video at the bottom of the post.

the one where everyone moves..

This week, 4 very special people to me are moving away. F-O-U-R! That's a lot of friends to have move in one week. And they are all moving far, far away...not like to Dallas or something. So I decided to dedicate an entry for each person moving...and since
Bert Snider
is the first one moving (tomorrow!), he gets the first entry.
I have known Bert since the 9th grade when I moved here. He has ALWAYS been a wonderful friend, a great person to be around, and I think most would say a crowd pleaser. He can make just about anybody laugh, and for that has provided tons of comic relief over the past 9 years I've known him. Of course, I have a bajillion pictures of him (usually of him doing something embarrassing...surprising? No.), but I went through and got out some of the goodies in my opinion. When I find the time to get out the scanner and scan some reallllllly old pics, then we could have a good time laughing. But for now, digital pictures will have to do.

Bert is going to Japan to teach English to people of all ages. We will miss him SO SO much, but this is something he has wanted to do for many years, and he is finally going to accomplish that dream.
Mexico 2005--our senior year of high school!
