On the 5th day of my camping trip, we went on an excursion to a lake. I didn't quite understand what we were doing at the time, but the kids advised me not to bring my camera. The first thing we did was take the catamaran across the water from where we usually swam.
This is the only picture of the catamaran that I got the whole trip! Sorry I didn't get it in the water...
So, two people sit on the catamaran and paddle, while two or three more people sit on metal bars that go in between the two inflated canoe-like things. Your but undoubtedly got wet during this part because we passed over some fast moving water.
I am standing on the beach, and they would charter people across to the grove of trees that is in the left side of the picture. There wasn't really a good place to get out without getting wet, and then we had to hike through the forest. I wore my Chacos on this day which confused a lot of the Ukrainians. They did not quite understood that Chacos are, in fact, supposed to get wet. I even got a Chaco tan line which has now disappeared after some time at the beach in Odessa :)
My toenail polish was completely gone by the 5th day of the trip here. I have yet to find a good brand that stays on for more than 2 or 3 days without chipping...back to the trip to the lake.
Some of the boys who took me up to take pictures...we climbed up and down many rocks and steep gravel-ly paths and they were so careful to make sure I didn't fall. Two would go in front of me and two behind. So gentlemanly :)
